Native Plant Walk
Join plant experts from UW Extension, Laramie Rivers Conservation District, Rocky Mountain Herbarium, US Forest Service and UW Biodiversity Institute to learn more about the native plants in our area and likely a few weeds! Plant walk will be more of a stroll than a hike. This workshop will help participants learn how to identify native plants, and they will learn about the general ecology of the area. The walk will take place at the McGuire Ranch, which sits at the edge of Morton Pass and Sybille Canyon (off of Hwy 34). This ranch is operated by the University of Wyoming Agriculture Experiment Stations. A short overview of the ranch history and current research efforts at the ranch will be discussed at the walk.
Directions to the site will be emailed to registered participants before the walk. Ignore any map shown on this EventBrite page, it will be incorrect. You do not need to bring a printed ticket with you.
If all goes as planned participants will be given a printed list (at the event) of the plants we will view. We will also email a picture guide after the walk. This will show images of some of the plants and their names, as a memory aid.
Call the Albany County UW Extension office (307) 721-2571 if you prefer to register over the phone or you'd like more information.
